How to Test for Static Electricity on Vacuum-Formed Trays?

Vacuum-formed trays, made of plastic material, are widely used in various industries for packaging purposes. They find applications in products such as biscuit liners, mooncake trays, cosmetic trays, and more. Many people are interested in the quality of vacuum-formed trays and wonder if there is any static electricity present on them. So, how can we test for static electricity on vacuum-formed trays?

Tool for Testing Static Electricity on Vacuum-Formed Trays:

A surface resistance testing instrument is used to measure the surface resistivity of an object. It can conduct simple and repeatable tests for conductivity, surface resistance, and insulating surface performance. The testing range is between 10^3 and 10^12, where 10^3 represents the conductive range (indicated by a green light), 10^6 to 10^9 represents the anti-static range (indicated by a yellow light), and above 10^12 represents the insulating range (indicated by a red light).

The effective static electricity range for vacuum-formed trays is as follows: the surface resistance of anti-static vacuum-formed trays (green layer resistance) should be between 10^6 and 10^9, indicating the presence of an anti-static layer; the back resistance of the anti-static rubber (black resistance) should be between 10^3 and 10^5, indicating the presence of a conductive layer.

During the use of anti-static vacuum-formed trays, the surface resistance testing instrument is often placed on the tray's surface, and the test button is pressed.

If the surface resistance instrument displays a yellow light, it indicates that the anti-static vacuum-formed tray is effective. If the light shows red or green, it means the anti-static rubber has failed. Similarly, the backside of the anti-static rubber can be tested using the same method. If the light shows green, it indicates that the anti-static vacuum-formed tray is effective. If the light shows yellow or red, it means the anti-static vacuum-formed tray has failed. When both the surface resistance and back resistance of the tray meet the standards, it is considered qualified. If either one or both do not meet the standards, it is considered a failure.

Static Electricity Testing Method:

1. Place the static electricity testing device on the vacuum-formed tray.

2. Press and hold the red button. If the red light appears, it means there is no anti-static material present.

3. If both yellow lights are lit, it indicates that it is a semi-conductive material with a resistance of 10^8, which falls into the anti-static category.
